Studio F. A. Porsche Design + Carestream Dental Performance. Introducing the CS 3700 Scanner.

Comfort and functionality, hand in hand. Advanced design and exceptional usability combine to drive better clinical outcomes.

PITTSTON, PA — August 21, 2019 — The new Carestream Dental CS 3700 intraoral scanner delivers a comprehensive, high-performance scanning experience and versatile configuration that will take users in any direction they want to go. Designed with Studio F. A. Porsche, and with customer-centric workflows, smart shade matching, high-speed scanning and processing and touchscreen capabilities, there is no need to compromise.

Since professionals can’t use a scanner without holding it, user comfort and control are crucial. The Carestream Dental collaboration with Studio F. A. Porsche has yielded a design with purposeful curves and sleek style expected of a high-performance intraoral scanner. An ergonomic grip channel makes the device fall more naturally to the human hand, while an integrated wrist strap keeps the CS 3700 safely secured. Excellent balance and light weight also contribute to its overall maneuverability and ease of use. Interchangeable tips come in three styles—including the shortest autoclavable tip height in the industry—to optimize ergonomics.

Not only is the CS 3700 better to use, it’s even faster now, too. Compared to the previous generation, scanning is 20% faster, turbocharging performance without compromising accuracy. In addition, processing is 60% faster with refinement options to meet your needs.

Advanced software with features exclusive to the CS 3700—such as smart shade matching that will provide automatic selection and recording of the patient’s tooth shade—fuel the scanner’s high performance.

Other scanners use texture-based shade matching which selects a single preferred geometry obtained from the scanned dataset, regardless of changing capture angles and illumination. The CS 3700’s software, CS ScanFlow, employs a more sophisticated bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) that processes all data directly from the tooth surface, factoring in all angles and changes in lighting intensity and direction for the most realistic shade match. In addition, smart shade matching automatically compiles a shade report for the selected area of interest. Each tooth can include up to three matched shade values.

CS ScanFlow also lets users experience true integration with CS Imaging 8.0, users’ portal to Carestream Dental’s portfolio of digital imaging products designed to work together.

The CS 3700 offers the same proven accuracy as the CS 3600, which was recently found in a study to offer the best single crown, partial prosthesis, and full arch trueness.

“Benco Dental launched OneVisitTM in 2014 as the first open architecture, in-office restoration production system with a focus on customer choice. We’re excited to add Carestream Dental’s CS 3700 to our product portfolio as a top choice for new users, and a worthy upgrade for users of previous generation scanners,” said Chad Carpenter, director of technology and lab innovation.
